Travel Day 5: Spooner Lake trail run

This is a short trail, but you can jump on the Tahoe rim trail at parts or begin the trail to Marlette lake (only a 10 mile hike round trip from this point) to add up miles.

Tahoe Travels: Day 4

Morning run at Bliss State Park. Not worth the hype. Maybe because I parked at the southern entrance? Would be reasonable with kids. Otherwise total snooze.

Treetop Adventure Park. Would be good w/ kids. Fun as an adult but not as fun as hiking and bouldering! :)

Onward to Eagle Rock.

Lunch, resting, convention only to hand a card over to another attorney.

Out the door again. Rain rolled in at some point. Final convention dinner and schmooze. Early to bed.

Tahoe Travels: Day 3

Planned all day affair for convention.

Morning road run down to King's Beach. 4.2ish miles

conference. Beach. Conference

Onward to my first hike of the day, Mt. Rose first summit.

Beautiful! Second favorite hike. Highly recommend it to all!

Drive up.

Wild flower filled assent.

Every place was just breathtaking on this trail.

The falls! :)

More snooze-fest conference.

Tahoe Travels: Day Two, Part 2

Checked in at the conference. Snooze-worthy first partial session. Back out the door to Tunnel Creek entrance to Marlette Creek hike. Logged maybe 3 or 4 miles, bouldered and what not before it got real windy and looked like rain.

Climb down=storm.
Climb up, no storm.

Back to the house and onward to Hyatt Regency for convention reception.

Tahoe Travels: Day Two, Part 1

Body woke me up 6:00 am. Good considering that was 8:00 am Texas time.

Headed out to Burton Creek State park for a run. Sucking air during the initial assent but then got into a good rhythm. This trail system is REALLY remote. I appreciated the trail system set up (ex.: .9 miles to marker 8). Would DEFINITELY watch for bears on this trail. 4.4 miles later, no bear attacks. Chilly out as you ascend! This will ultimately be my favorite trail.

Stopped at Dollar Point for obligatory pic

Back to the house and onward to the Crystal Bay Lookout hike that was doable from the house and supposed to be often overlooked by serious hikers bc of it's ease. It was exactly what my sources said: not a serious hike, straight assent, beautiful view and worth it.

Met a great couple that I hiked around with. Fellow Banctec folks.
I woul recommend not taking the kids on this one unless your kids are beasts that never whine.

Down to Central Market on King's beach to pick up a sandwich. Packed a little bag and headed to Speedboat beach. A 1 mile round trip walk from the house.

Lunch on the beach before heading back to get cleaned up for a conference session.

Tahoe Travels

Day One:

Early early morning flight.  Dallas-->Vegas-->Reno.  Rental car, bags, and on my way.

Couldn't check in to hotel so headed up to Northstar.  There was a race going on, couldn't stop there.  Headed onward to Truckee and stopped at Mattis Creek to hike.  A little hike was all I could muster from the change of altitude.

Headed onward to Truckee. Stopped @ Truckee Winery.  Tried the Malbec & their red blend. Both really lovely!! Purchased Red Blend and commemorative wine glass AS ALWAYS. :)

Onward to downtown Truckee -- super cute and regretted not having time to come back here and have several glasses at Truckee Winery.

Drove onward to Squaw, which was having a music festival; no parking! lol.

Onward to pick up ice cream and saw King's Beach on my way up to the rental house.

Back to rental house. Unpack, ice cream up (Slow Churn Banana Split, hoooly shit YUM), King's Beach.

Sat on the beach for awhile before getting some food at Jack's Grill and headed home to research morning hikes and go to bed at 8:30.
